Santons de Provence terra cotta dolls are small clay figurines that are handcrafted in the Provence region of France. Santons de Provence are typically made from terracotta clay and are often painted in bright, vibrant colors. They are hand made of 'terre cuite' (terra cotta) with each figure individually crafted. These figurine is of a refined older women dressed in a long gown with a intricate lace shawl and frilled parasol. She is clutching a small bag and has a black chocker with gold cross around her neck. Her detailed face reflects bright eyes and a kindly smile. The rear of the base she stands is marked M DI LANDRO. The figurine stands 12" tall and stands on a felt bottomed base of 3 3/4" wide. It is in overall very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks noted on either the terra cotta head or hands. The long pink dress has signs of staining on both sides retail of the dress and there some tears also on the lace shawl as well. Price point reflects these flaws.
