Up for sale is this really neat oil painting on stretched canvas. The painting depicts a gondolier in a Venetian canal. The piece is quintessentially midcentury. It is signed at lower right. The signature appears to read "D. Vitty" or "D. Vity." I believe this is a piece produced by the prolific midcentury artist, Antonio DeVity, but it is possible it is not. I've seen his signature expressed a number of different ways, occasionally with A. as the first initial, but I have seen a few that look like "D. Vity." In any case, this is sold in the manner of Antonio DeVity. Painting is unframed but stretched on stretcher bars. The painting shows a number of losses throughout. Mainly small areas of flaking and paint loss. It's definitely a shabby chic survivor and not a museum piece. Please see the photos. Painting measures 20 inches high x 16 inches retail wide.
