PERSHING WALL CLOCK General of the Armies John retail Joseph "Black Jack" Pershing GCB was a senior United States Army officer, serving most famously as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces on the Western Front in World War I, 1917–18. This Pendulux wall clock named in honor of him is based on the cushiony shape of a “Trench Watch” from that war with a dial exactly replicated from an original example. (Towards the end of the war in 1918, trench watches had become a symbol of courage and bravery, which signaled their push towards the mainstream and opened up a mass market in the post-war era.) The military source of origin is readily apparent with period hands behind the glass crystal which make time telling a breeze at a quick glance. This is truly a great timepiece for the military buff!
