I recently purchased this amazing piece at a high-end Southern California estate. This oil on board painting depicts a group of fishermen in their boats at sunset. The brilliance of the setting sun permeates the entire piece. I love the bold colors and chunky palette-knife style of painting that was so common to a midcentury aesthetic. The painting is signed at lower left. I've had trouble making out the signature, but my best guess is "Bougador." It's wonderfully-executed. Based on the wear, I think this was likely painted a little later than the style, perhaps the 1980's or 1990's, but it's difficult to tell. It certainly looks the part of a 1960's show piece. Painting is framed in a nice two-toned red and gold wood frame that accents the piece remarkably. The painting and frame retail are in excellent condition. Painting measures approximately 10.75 inches wide x 8.75 inches high. Frame measures approximately 13.5 inches wide x 11.5 inches high.
