Rare Military 1965 Gold Star Mothers Ceramic Bell Vietnam War Era Rymes Ceramics. Bell given to mothers of lost soldiers around start of Vietnam War Era. When an active-duty service member dies, his or her mother automatically becomes a Gold Star Mother. Measures 2.75” tall by 2.75” wide - in great condition, no chips or cracks - standard crazing in glaze which is normal retail for its age. Membership in the organization is open to any woman who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident that has lost a son or daughter in active service in the U.S. military (regardless of the place or time of the military service, regardless of whether the circumstances of death involved hostile conflict or not, and including mothers of those missing in action).
