Dated 1853, this Victorian mourning brooch features human hair under beveled glass. Octagonal in shape with a pinch back mounting. Back of brooch is engraved with initials and dated August 18,1853. Hair is framed in black enamel (onyx?) and gold toned metal. Review the photos to retail see missing segments of the black part of the frame. The glass has scratches. Overall I feel these imperfections do not distract from the beauty and uniqueness of this Victorian brooch. Measures 1” X 14/16. It will come to you in this beautiful blue velvet box.
