Oil painting on board depicting a turn-of-the century (around 1900) retail boardwalk scene, likely on the US East Coast. The figures strolling down the boardwalk certainly appear to be dressed in Victorian-esque fashion, with top hats, canes and parasols. TThe most interesting feature to me is the pink explosion at top center. I believe this is intended to depict a firework explosion, but it could simply be the sun. Unsigned and undated, framed in a handsome white wood frame. The painting is in excellent condition. No noticeable wear. Frame is in very good condition with some scuffing consistent with age. Painting measures 20 inches high x 16 inches wide. Frame measures approximately 22.75 inches high x 18.75 inches wide.
