Plenty of character on this coin with nice original surfaces. A couple nice bi-level die cracks, first at around 10/11' o clock, extends from around behind the eyebrow, around ear to rim and second around 1 o clock to the right side of LIBERTY, at the edge of cap to rim. FULL and beautiful LIBERTY. Normal die cracks (raised surfaces of extra metal resulting from a die break), one from rim through the T of UNITED on reverse to about a quarter of the eagle's right wing, another in the shield at a 45 degree angle contained within the shield and lastly one located around 5 o clock, from the rim intersecting through O and L of "DOL", to the tail of arrows. Very rare coin for experienced collectors. Reeded Edge Half Dollars with "HALF DOL." were only minted for 1838-1839 with the previous years 36/37 having "50 CENTS" instead. A great addition retail to any collection and especially of the Capped Bust series.
