“Sortilège” the meaning of the name is “sorcery”, or to cast a spell. This is a rare, large 8 oz full bottle of vintage late 50s early 1960s Sortilege Le Galion Parfum de Toilette. This is in a beautiful embossed box. This is a dabber bottle, but very strong as perfumes of days gone by tended to be. This was a new unopened bottle that I have tested for freshness and it still smells divine, though surely it has aged and I am not familiar with how this perfume smelled originally. There is age related evaporation and staining on label. To my nose it is a white floral aldehydic perfume. From retail Fragrantica; Sortilège by Le Galion is a Floral Aldehyde fragrance for women. Sortilège was launched in 1937. The nose behind this fragrance is Paul Vacher. Top notes are Aldehydes, Lilac, Ylang-Ylang and Lily-of-the-Valley; middle notes are iris, Turkish Rose, Narcissus, Egyptian Jasmine and Mimosa; base notes are Musk, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Labdanum and Amber.
