This is a mid-century Turkish rug. It is hand knotted with all wool fiber on a cotton warp and weft as are the majority of all oriental rugs. The design is geometric in nature with some animals. The dyes used are not synthetic. It is a country rug not made in a city factory but likely made by one person on a home loom. It has a large central medallion surrounded by four birds and other figurals. The colors are rust, green, brown, tan, and aqua and are all quite and are all understated. There is one large border with stylized flowers This rug is in good condition for its age, has no spots worn to the foundation and has no stains. This rug has approximately 149 knots per square inch making it a medium woven rug. I have been selling on eBay for 24 years and have 100% feedback under the name Acanthus. Oriental rugs need> not be so expensive but be aware of machine made rugs as retail well as factory made hand-tied rugs using petrochemicals and underpaid labor.
