This listing is for an antique, hand-painted figural grouping of an artist painting a landscape to the delight of his lovely paramour by Carl Scheidig in Grafenthal. This piece depicts a traditional courting couple. The classical beauty dons adornments in her stylish upswept tresses, and dons a striking gown with floral pattern. The regal painter is seated; he holds an easel in one hand and a brush in the other, as he puts the finishing touches on his opus. This German porcelain figure is marked on the underside with an orange Carl Scheidig "Kunstporzellan Handgemalt" eagle mark, which denotes production by the high-end porzellanfabrik in Grafenthal, c. 1920-30's. This Jugendstil or Art Nouveau porcelain figure is hand-sculpted, and does not possess a firing hole upon close examination. Excellent, preowned condition with no chips, cracks, or visible repairs. All fingers and embellishments are intact. Measures approximately retail 8.25"H by 8"W by 4.25"D.
